Why is Licensure Important to our practice in NOva scotia?
Over the past 20 years, Therapeutic Recreation professionals in Nova Scotia have been working as sub committees of the professional organizations to seek statute that will create a regulatory college for Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists (CTRS), which will enable the registration and licensing of CTRS in the province of Nova Scotia. So what does this mean exactly? Licensing will prevent individuals from self-titling as Recreation Therapists that aren’t certified as a CTRS through NCTRC, allowing the college to regulate and discipline professionals. The title of Recreation Therapist will be protected by those with the designation.
